It's Taken Me 10 Years To Hang Some Of These
Now I don't have a bare wall in my apartment
Hi friend,
I’ve been contemplating how I want to show up in this space. I’m in a season of doing, and I love for this space to be less doing and more of a place to wonder, to wander, and to think out loud. But it’s also a part of me and my life, and I truly care about the things I do… so… cue OVERTHINKING with a capital O (followed by a capital V, and… you catch my drift.)
One thing that really inspired me lately was Xanthe and how, when she felt like her Napkin Math Substack (which I happened to love) was no longer serving her but making her feel beholden, she just discontinued it and went on to post other things instead. Just like that, like my frienemy Carrie Bradshaw says.
I love that Xanthe didn’t ghost herself (by forcing herself to post in a format that no longer worked for her), but she also didn’t ghost the habit she built (posting on Substack) or the audience she’s built (which she could have, and it would have been ok, but as a reader I’m glad she didn’t.)
This made me think, what am I actually excited to talk about, that I’m not talking about elsewhere - at least not with space to really get into?
Today, it’s art.
So yeah, 10 years ago, I lamented about how much I wanted art on my walls. And the point is - I did have art. I also was married to someone who was deeply opposed to hanging it - and that somehow felt like an impenetrable wall (pun intended). Today? Let’s say the situation has sliiiightly changed. So… would you like an art tour?

Birds poster - 1 of a huge pack, I have 2 by the sofa, 2 in my home office/guest room, and 1 between the rooms. I also gave away like 4… It was pretty inexpensive if I recall, really good buy.
Huge abstract painting - my favorite and an unexpected purchase. The artist is the brother of a Moroccan furniture boutique I love.
